Our Progress
_We conducted the survey on 09 September 2009 for classes 3 to 8. We distributed forms for admission to this centre from December 2009 onwards. After a short time we received around 200 forms duly filled.
Our respected Principal sir, Dr. Jyotirmoy Jhampati inaugurated the Free Night Education Centre on 20th March 2010 by lighting the candle, thus signifying "JYOTI", our motto. In the grand ceremony held in the college auditorium, respected principal sir along with professors of the college distributed copies and pens to the underprivileged students who enrolled for Jyoti.
We started the classes from 22 March 2010 with a student strength of 200. Initially we started from classes 6 to 8 in our college building itself for which we are very grateful to the college authority. We were provided with 3 rooms in the Mechanical Engineering department.
From December 2010 classes 9 and 10 were introduced. 2 rooms in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering were provided to continue the classes. We also started a small library facility for the students for their better studies. They take books regularly from there.
Recently special technical classes are introduced to encourage students and help them to appear and crack JEXPO.
We enjoyed occasions like Rakhi, Teachers Day with our students. On 8th February of 2011, Jyoti held its own Saraswati Puja , which was repeated the following year on 28th January. On 27th of March 2011 we enjoyed a picnic with all the students and members of Jyoti.
We continuously ran the classes 4 days a week from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm, each period consisting of an hour. We also gave away diaries as a token of performance to those who scored well in class tests that were held during their course of study. Recently we were also able to provide tiffin to the students to make them feel more comfortable to study. Recently a audio-visual awareness program which we call "Know Neighbors &Make Something" has been introduced into Jyoti mainly for students of classes 7 to 9. Special classes for Hindi medium students has been started. We are looking forward for more improvements and new innovative ideas.
We are also generously thankful to the authority for providing us with inverter for emergency in case of power-cuts.
In these few years of constant effort of our college students we have seen an immense development in their field of education. Classes are very interactive in nature with teacher as well as others guiding the students desk to desk.
Subjects that are taught here now are: Geography, Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, English, with a special emphasis being given on Mathematics and English.
